Kloof Corner

So, it has been ages since my last post… But I’m going to try be more diligent this time!

There are many beautiful view points on this route.

This last Sunday I did a run with MATES running group. Well, ‘run’ is maybe not the correct term. Hike would be the correct term for this one. We headed up kloof corner on a beautiful Sunday morning. I had never done this route so was looking forward to it, although there had been talk of some areas being very exposed and a need for a ‘head for heights’! (of which mine is not great)

This is not a route for the faint hearted and one to do alone. It is advised to go with someone who has done the route before. You start at the SANPark information hut at kloof nek. From there head up the single track, so as to not have to walk up the road. Ascend kloof corner until you reach to contour path. Turn left onto the Contour and keep on eye out for a chain on rocks on your right. That is the start of the hike. From there you follow the cairns and ascend some chains and eventually climb through the ‘chimney’. These are sections where you need a head for heights!

The route eventually joins up with India Venster, and makes its way up to the top of Table Mountain. From there the options are endless really and you can explore the routes the mountain has to offer.

All in all another beautiful morning on the mountain! Its hard to believe that with all the running I have done on the mountain, there are so many routes I have not done yet!

See you out there…
